Mojave Water Agency (MWA) invites community members to participate in its upcoming Waterwise University online workshop, “Rain Harvesting and Stormwater Preparedness.” This free virtual course is designed to provide important information about collecting and using rainwater, managing stormwater risks, and preparing for severe weather conditions.
The class is open to all and will take place on Wednesday, August 12 at 6 p.m.
Presented by local conservation consultant Kathleen Radnich, the course will cover rain harvesting techniques for capturing and using rainwater, along with key aspects of stormwater safety, including pollutants carried by stormwater, hidden floodwater dangers, stormwater erosion, health concerns, and practical strategies for prevention and preparedness.
“We’ll take a deep dive into health and safety concerns most desert dwellers overlook when it comes to storm water preparedness in our desert region,” Radnich said. “This one-hour class is meant to help save lives, protect property, and help people better understand both the hidden dangers and opportunities that come with our seasonal storms.”
As part of MWA’s ongoing commitment to promoting responsible water conservation and sustainability, the Waterwise University series provides valuable educational resources to communities throughout MWA’s 4,900-square-mile service area and beyond.
Registration information is available through Mojave Water Agency’s website on the events tab at www.mojavewater.org. For additional information, contact (760) 218-2822.
