Groundwater Monitoring Wells
Groundwater Monitoring Wells
As California water laws regarding detectable arsenic have become stricter, early detection of even the smallest traces of arsenic in groundwater is extremely important.

In 2002, the Agency expanded its groundwater-monitoring program to ensure a stable and secure water supply. Approximately 140 groundwater-monitoring wells have been installed since the 1990’s. These wells are frequently monitored to track changes in the underground aquifers, and sampled periodically to ensure that there are no new contaminants in local aquifers.

Through a $250,000 grant from the State Department of Water Resources, the Agency has developed a new 2,000-foot deep monitoring well in the Oro Grande Wash, near the City of Hesperia.

Known as the “Deep Well Project,” the new well will allow the Agency to check water levels throughout its service area and anticipate supply and distribution needs before they become urgent.
