Teaches Water Wise Landscaping
More than half of household water use in the High Desert is spent on outdoor landscaping. With the region still experiencing overdraft, Mojave Water Agency and the Mojave Desert Resource Conservation District share the goal of reducing outdoor residential water use by educating residents about the value of water conservation.

In the Summer of 2003, MWA and the conservation district pooled their resources, forming a partnership to develop projects and programs centered around the promotion of desert-adaptive landscaping to conserve water.

A highlight of the partnership has been three demonstration projects developed by MDRCD at MWA Headquarters depicting a typical lawn with normal irrigation methods, a lawn utilizing a state-of-the-art satellite controlled irrigation system, and a yard utilizing desert adaptive landscaping.
