Lewis Center Collaboration Creates Water Education Hub
Lewis Center Collaboration Creates Water Education Hub
Lewis Center Mojave Water Agency joined forces with the Lewis Center for Educational Research in November of 2002 in an effort to inform students and residents about the history and importance of natural water resources to quality of life in the High Desert.

A new water education curriculum has been created through the partnership that includes workshops and outdoor activities that encourage residents to support water conservation and other intelligent water resource management practices. Located at the edge of the Mojave River Narrows in Apple Valley, the Lewis Center campus is situated perfectly to serve as a regional water education hub for students at area schools and for residents seeking information about High Desert water issues.

Students from local schools in the High Desert work with teachers and staff from the Lewis Center, collecting, analyzing and archiving data from ground and surface water sources. Much of this data has been added to MWA’s new Geographical Information System (GIS) to map local water resource locations.
