Brings Water Education to Morongo Basin
Brings Water Education to Morongo Basin
Continuing its tradition of teaming with High Desert education leaders to provide water resource education, Mojave Water Agency
forged a partnership with Copper Mountain College (CMC) in July of 2003. The partnership has allowed the Agency to bring its message
of water resource management and conservation to the Morongo Basin.
The MWA and CMC’s goals are to increase awareness in the community of the importance of securing a long-term, balanced supply of
water in the Morongo Basin, and to educate residents about the importance of natural plant vegetation there.
Under the partnership, a water education curriculum and programs will be developed to promote water conservation within the Morongo
Basin. A demonstration garden of drought-tolerant plants and water wise landscaping has been incorporated into design plans for the
proposed Desert Studies Center at Copper Mountain College.
