Art Bishop
Director, Division 5

Art Bishop was appointed to the Board of Directors in October of 2004 as a representative of Division 5, which serves the community of Apple Valley. He and his wife, a teacher in Apple Valley, have lived in the High Desert for the past 25 years, 16 of those years in Apple Valley. Their son, a firefighter, and daughter, a teacher, also live in Apple Valley with their families. Art has a degree in Fire Science from Victor Valley College and major coursework in business administration from the University of Redlands. He has worked as a firefighter here in the High Desert for the past 25 years and is currently a Division Chief and the Fire Marshal for the Apple Valley Fire Protection District. Art is a past president for the Victorville Kiwanis Club, creator and president of the Inland Empire Fire Explorer Association, and he teaches part time at Victor Valley College in the Fire Science Technology program. His longtime personal commitment to the High Desert is evidenced in his belief in securing a reliable water source for future generations.
